Features to know about

ShockDrop Comfort for Heavy Loads: Cushioned, Shock-Absorbing Design

Towing big equipment or livestock trailers can get rough fast when every bump and pothole sends shock through the truck and trailer. The Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit uses ShockDrop technology with a polyurethane cushion to absorb that jarring motion. The built-in pivot action smooths out the fore-aft movement from braking or acceleration, cutting down on jerking and chucking. It keeps your ride steadier and helps protect your cargo, truck, and trailer from unnecessary wear.

More Turning Room Where It Counts: 4" Rearward Offset

Shorter setups often run tight on cab-to-trailer clearance, especially when taking sharper turns. This hitch solves that with a 4" offset built into the ball mount, giving you that little bit of extra space you need between the cab and front of the trailer. It helps you maneuver without stressing about contact or crunching corners, and it still gives you a fully open truck bed while hooked up.

Quick Bed Access and Solid Hookup: Quarter-Turn Anchoring System with Built-In Chain Loops

When it’s time to hook up or remove the hitch, the quarter-turn anchoring system makes it simple. Drop it in, give it a twist, and you’re locked in with anti-rotation arms and adjustable anchors that keep it tight in the pucks—no rattle or play. The integrated safety chain loops are part of the assembly, so there’s no need for extra hardware. When you’re done towing, pull it out just as easily for a clean bed ready for loading gear or hay.

Built to Handle Serious Towing: 30,000 lbs GTW Capacity

This forged steel gooseneck ball is tested to meet SAE standards and rated for 30,000 lbs gross towing weight. The 2-5/16" ball sits 8" above the bed surface—1-1/2" higher than standard due to its shock-absorbing base—and is finished with a carbide black powder coat on the frame and chrome plating on the ball for corrosion resistance. It’s built for tough jobs that demand heavy hauling without sacrificing comfort or control.

I want to like the Curt RockerBall, however I noticed after our one and only trip with it that the shorter connection in between the ball and the cross piece actually bent. The way it is attached to the rockerball offset is two flanged pieces that are clamped together with bolts and really doesn’t have a ton of strength to withstand a twisting force from the offset.
Additionally the hitch is very tall. We ran into issues with our gooseneck not being able to retract enough to let the trailer sit level.

Dang, sorry to hear that, Landon. Do you by chance know the weight of your trailer/camper? This rated up to 30K, so I must admit to being surprised it bent when you used it.

I received my hitch and the box was opened and the ball was missing. I called and Tiffani took care of it and I thought I was getting just the ball but she sent a whole new set up. Not sure why someone opened the box to take the ball but etrailer helped with the issue. Thank you

I ponder that as well... But, I'm glad that Tiffani got you taken care of so you could get everything hitched up, Jason!

Great alternative to hook up your gooseneck safe, giving you room to turn without hitting the truck cab

I have pulled a 35ft.gooseneck flatbed/deckover..no issues..I pulled my 34ft.horse trailer(14k empty),small carriage style bolts in center of bar(were tightened properly)shifted, allowing the bar and ball to shift to the side, causing an issue to straighten out..can supply pics to prove it..other than that it is great item

The extra ball height worked great when combined with a gen-y executive hitch.

by:

This hitch has worked great in my 24 Ram 3500. I’ve towed my 32’ trailer with a tractor on up to my 41’ ATC trailer. Hitch cuts down on the shock and has worked without issue.

Many thanks to William S. who suggested the Rockerball hitch with the 4' offset to solve my clearance problem. My offset was fine but I needed to raise the ball ~4 inches as the clearance from truck bedrails to 5th wheel overhang was only about 3 1/2 inches. Yikes. The previous owner had replaced the trailer pin box with the Reese 20K gooseneck conversion. Great - but not for my truck. The Reese was at the highest adjustement possible so I needed to raise the ball height to get acceptable clearance. Unable to find an extended shank goosneck ball for the Ram puck system.....the Rockerball hitch was the perfect solution.

  • Recommended Offset Gooseneck Ball Kit for a 2024 Ram 3500
Hey Eric, the Curt Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset for Chevy/Ford/GMC/Nissan Underbed Gooseneck Hitch # C68ZV is not going to work with your Ram, unfortunately. This one is only going to work for select YMM (Year Make Model) Ford 250-450s, GMC Sierra 2500-3500s, Chevy Silverado 2500-3500s, and Nissan Titan XDs. You'd instead want to check out the Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset for Chevy/Ford/GMC/Nissan Gooseneck Hitch # C78ZV which is going to be the same thing you're...

  • Which One is Better the Gen-Y Offset Gooseneck Ball for Ford Puck Systems or the Curt?
Hey Eric! I do recommend the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Ford OEM Puck Systems item # GY43XR. Curt's got one item # C78ZV but I prefer Gen-Y's because of the sturdiness of it's construction. Plus the Gen-Y will give you a 5" offset over the Curt's 4". The one perk of the Curt item # C78ZV is that it's adjustable so that you can fit various puck systems. It might be a better option if you plan on switching trucks again and want to reuse the offset ball. What kind of 5th wheel...

Hey Eddie, we have the Curt offset hitch ball part # C68ZV that fits the OEM pucks of your 2026 GMC Sierra 3500 and has a 4 inch offset like you are wanting. Or we have a cushioned version with the part # C78ZV which has a Rockerball hitch ball on it.

  • Can Curt Offset Gooseneck Ball Work with Gen-Y Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter
Hey Bob, you can use the Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset # C78ZV with a Gen-Y fifth wheel to gooseneck adapter like it sounds like you have currently. This will give you an additional 1-1/2 inches of height like it sounds like you are looking for. How do you like the Gen-y? Do you need more height so that the trailer sits level and still clears bed rails.

  • Comparing Offset Gooseneck Hitch Balls For A 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 With Reese Elite Puck System
Hey Cameron, The Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck # RP30158-68 is the same pattern as Ford's OEM puck system spacing so you would be able to use the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Ford OEM Puck Systems # GY43XR. The Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset # C78ZV (60668) would also fit and comes with Curt's RockerBall hitch ball. This helps absorb shock for a smoother ride quality. The Curt # C78ZV is adjustable so that you can fit various puck systems so it might...

  • How to Get Turning Clearance for a 5th Wheel Trailer w/a 2026 Silverado 2500 w/ Puck System
Thanks for the information Keith and congrats on your new truck! The only way to get additional turning clearance when using a gooseneck pin box like item # GY57ND is to install the Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset item # C78ZV. The Curt RockerBall item # C78ZV is going to mount to your gooseneck ball hole and the back pucks. It's going to move your gooseneck ball back 4" towards your tailgate. The structure has built in safety chain loops and the gooseneck ball has shock...

  • Weight Distribution System For A 8,000 Pound Boat And Trailer
Hi Joe! A weight distribution hitch will definitely help the towing experience with your set up. Anything being towed that is over about half the weight of the vehicle will greatly benefit from using a weight distribution. With your boat/trailer weighing 8,000 pounds, I highly recommend grabbing one. So let's get into which one you should go with. I like the Fastway e2 systems as they are very effective and will likely last forever. For your weight, I recommend going with the Fastway...

  • What is Height of Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit # C78ZV Above Truck Bed
Hey Albert, welcome back! So this is a great question but the simple answer is that from the top of your truck bed to the top of the hitch ball of the Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset # C78ZV is 8 inches. Since what you have now is 7 inches tall and you want one inch taller this would be exactly what you are looking for. What are you towing currently?

  • Which Offset Gooseneck Ball for Ram 3500 Short Bed Towing Trailer with Curt Helux Pin Box
Hey Jeffrey, I would recommend going with the Curt Offset Gooseneck ball part # C68ZV as this will give you 4 inches of additional offset like you are wanting and doesn't change the height of the ball like the Rockerball version part # C78ZV does. Plus you have a cushioned gooseneck pin box already and using a cushioned ball with a cushioned hitch doesn't always work out like you'd hope. How do you like the Helux pin box?

  • Should I Use a CURT RockerBall with a B&W Shock Absorbing Gooseneck Pin Box?
Hi Kevin! Yes, you can use the 4 inch offset ball part # C78ZV to gain a little more clearance between your tailgate and the front of your Brinkley, and that's a pretty common reason people choose it. It will give you the added space you're after while letting the B&W pin box do the cushioning it was designed to provide. As for the RockerBall version, I would actually stick with the standard 4 inch offset ball instead of stacking two shock absorbing systems together because they can interfere...

  • Looking For Twist Lock Gooseneck Ball With 4" Offset
Hey Rich, thanks for reaching out. We do have offset gooseneck balls, but nothing with a twist lock. For example, the B&W 4" offset ball # BWGNXA4085 is for the B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch. Or the Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset # C78ZV with OEM gooseneck hitches. Both of these just drop into the gooseneck ball hole. Do you know what brand your gooseneck hitch is? Is it factory or aftermarket?

  • Can I Use the Curt Rocker Ball with My Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler?
Hello Dave, Great question. Unfortunately, you cannot use a RockerBall with a Reese Goose Box because the Goose Box requires a fixed gooseneck ball, while the RockerBall has a built-in pivot mechanism that could cause instability. The Goose Box already has an air ride system, and adding a second point of movement could lead to excessive play or potential uncoupling. Manufacturers warn against using cushioned or articulating hitch balls with the Goose Box, so it's best to stick with a standard...

  • Reocmmended Curt Gooseneck Hitch for a 2025 GMC Sierra Short Bed
Richard, I'm going to assume there was a typo with the bed length, and you meant to put 61" or 6'1" making this a short bed. If that's the case, then unfortunately the Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset for Factory Gooseneck Hitches # C78ZV is not going to work. Instead, for the short bed you are going to need Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit for GM/Chevy/Ford/Nissan Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C60692 if you have the prep package, or the Curt EZr Double Lock Underbed...

It's been specifically designed to work with all the OEM puck systems so the difference in positioning over the axle won't affect it's functionality or capacity. It also has built in chain loops. Hi Chris; I'm not seeing that under the tech tips no matter how I search for it but I'm guessing it was tied to an older variation/part number so it is still showing up. I'll put in a note to get it removed so there is no confusion, thanks for pointing it out. To be clear, you do not need any additional safety chain loops for the # C78ZV since they are integrated.
